Upgrade the New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor to accommodate the needs of the regional boating community while meeting ADA access requirements.
APC mobilized 2 crane barges with 120 and 110 ton cranes into the yacht harbor to perform all necessary piling requirements. We performed the demolition of approximately 61,000 SF of timber piles, concrete decks, concrete caps and extracted approximately 544 of 12” x 70’ concrete piles.
Next, APC installed approximately 11,000 SF of NZ14 (50’ in length) sheet piles for a tie-back system. We then installed approximately 4,400 LF of 16” x 70’ steel pipe piles, 162 LF of 18” x 54’ steel pipe piles, 5,810 LF of 20” x 70’ steel pipe piles, 1,395 LF of 24” x 125’ steel piles. The 16” and 20” steel pipe piles were installed for the new floating dock while the 18” piles were installed for the new walking platforms and 24” piles were installed for the new building.
APC installed approximately 146 timber piles arranging in sizes from 12” to 14” and in lengths of 45’ to 70’ long for the new building, transformer pad, fender systems, and mooring piles for the floating dock.
Lastly, we offloaded approximately 61,000 SF of demolition material from the barge onto land. This project was positioned in an active harbor and heavy marine traffic environment; APC successfully and safely completed the project on-time in a very public work environment.
